| Quick & Easy Applesauce |
Salt
Sugar
Cinnamon
Water
Apple Sauce
Peel, core, and cut into large chunks 4-5 large or 8-10 small apples. (Any kind will do, but adjust the sugar to match your choice of apple - I used 3 large Fuji apples and about 5 tiny I-don't-know-what-kind from the backyard)
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, add cut apples and
3/4 cup water*
1/4 tsp salt (optional)
1/4 cup sugar (adjust to taste)
1/2 tsp cinnamon (optional)
Bring everything to a boil, then turn down to a simmer for 25-30 mins. (tilt the pan cover to vent the steam)
Remove from heat for 20 mins
Mash with a spoon or potato masher to desired consistency
Serve warm or place in refrigerator for later use.
*Note* Don't worry if it looks a bit soupy while cooking, it all gets absorbed nicely while the mixture cools.
Also, feel free to drop everything but the apples and water if you prefer - this recipe is easily customized to suit your taste. The most important thing is the cool-down period. ;-)
